About the Project
Design of a luxury lakefront estate in the scenic Alnwick/Haldimand region — one of Ontario’s most desirable waterfront destinations. The primary goal was to create a complete family sanctuary that integrates panoramic water views, a private wellness wing, and extensive social amenities within a unified architectural vision.

Solution
We designed a two-story volume in the Modern Craftsman style — defined by expressive gabled rooflines, exposed timber brackets, and a material palette of natural stone and vertical siding. The elongated composition unfolds along the shoreline: a fully glazed lakeside facade captures sweeping water views, while a cobblestone motor court and curved driveway create an impressive arrival sequence. A separate guest structure with a garage completes the estate ensemble.
Key Features
Architectural character
The facade composition is built on a rhythm of intersecting gables, full-height curtain windows, and exposed structural timber detailing. The material triad of ledge-stone, weathered wood, and grey-white siding creates the image of a distinguished country home that reads as genuinely rooted in the Ontario landscape.
Ground floor program
The main level includes an open-plan kitchen with an outdoor kitchen and al fresco dining area, a generous living room opening onto a covered lakeside porch, a complete wellness wing with sauna, steam room, gym, and indoor SPA pool, a master suite with his-and-her walk-in closets and separate bathrooms, a home office, laundry, and a 5-car garage.
Second floor
Three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a library, an open mezzanine overlooking the living room, and balconies with lake views provide comfortable accommodation for family and guests.
Water connection
The south facade opens fully to the lake through panoramic glazing across all social and leisure spaces. The covered porch with a dining terrace and direct dock access ensures daily immersion in the natural waterfront setting.
Wellness as architecture
The indoor SPA wing with pool, sauna, and steam room is conceived as a pavilion with exterior access — aligned with the Scandinavian tradition of thermal bathing adjacent to open water.

A residence that embodies the complete vision of lakefront living — from daily comfort and wellness to entertaining and water recreation. The Modern Craftsman architectural language genuinely roots the home in the Canadian landscape, while delivering the spatial quality and programmatic richness characteristic of North America’s finest lakefront estates.
