Architecture
Residential Building in Quebec Province
Location
Quebec, Canada
About the Project
Modern two-story residence in the picturesque mountainous region of Quebec province with views of the Canadian Laurentian Mountains. Our task was to create a spacious family house for seasonal living that harmoniously integrates with the harsh northern landscape and withstands extreme weather conditions of Canadian winter. Additionally, the client’s specific request was to create a part of the house that could be used for Airbnb.

Solution
We developed an asymmetric composition of several interconnected volumes of different heights under a unified standing seam roof. The central idea — “modern interpretation of Canadian chalet” through combining traditional pitched roofs with large panoramic windows and minimalist forms. The angular planning scheme creates private zones and maximizes use of mountain views.
Key Features
Climate Adaptation
Metal standing seam roofs for efficient snow shedding, powerful thermal insulation and energy-efficient heating systems including both fireplace and electric heating.
Materials
Combination of natural wood, natural stone and black metal creates authentic northern character with high resistance to harsh weather conditions
Planning
Open concept public areas with panoramic mountain views, private zone with three bedrooms and additional recreational rooms in the basement level.
Landscape Integration
The building organically fits into the natural terrain using stone from local quarry and preserving mature coniferous trees on the site
Result
Modern Canadian residence that masterfully combines comfort of seasonal living with the beauty of wild northern nature. The house creates a cozy retreat among Canadian forests, providing breathtaking mountain views and complete harmony with Quebec’s surrounding environment.
