Architecture
House Renovation Project in New Hampshire, USA
Location
New Hampshire, USA
About the Project
A two-story house in the wooded suburbs of Hooksett underwent a complete architectural transformation. The scope of work went far beyond cosmetic repairs — the client wanted to change not just the appearance, but the very character of the building: to turn a standard colonial house into a modern farmhouse residence that feels at home among the forests of New England.

Solution
The key move was the addition of a third building block housing a kitchen and dining area with panoramic views of the surrounding forest. The existing horizontal vinyl siding was replaced with vertical white board-and-batten, paired with natural timber frame elements and a stone base. This trio of materials — wood, white cladding, and stone — defines the expressive aesthetic of the modern American Farmhouse style.
The entrance portico with massive wooden posts and a gable became the new focal point of the facade. A cantilevered balcony on timber supports with metal railings adds vertical rhythm and functionality to the composition. Dark window frames and a dark roof amplify the contrast against the clean white wall surface.
Key Features
Timber Frame as an Architectural Statement
Massive natural wood beams and posts serve not merely as structural elements, but as the primary aesthetic feature — a warm counterpoint to the minimalist white facade.
Complete Stylistic Transformation
The building evolved from a standard colonial type to a contemporary American Farmhouse — while preserving the existing footprint and floor plan.
Landscape as the Finishing Touch
A manicured lawn, decorative shrubs, a lit stone pathway, and natural boulders transformed the site into a full part of the architectural composition.
Material Contrast
The combination of white siding, stone base, and warm wood creates an image that reads equally well in summer greenery and in a snow-covered winter forest.
Architectural Details
The entrance group with its timber portal and illuminated steps creates a clear focal point on the facade. Large black windows maximize natural light and maintain the graphic rhythm of the facade plane. Integrated exterior lighting along the pathway highlights the landscape geometry after dark.
Result
This renovation proved that a radical change in architectural character is possible without demolishing the existing structure. This house is an example of how the right choice of materials, details, and landscape can completely reimagine the identity of a residence — from a typical suburban house to a distinctive modern homestead.
We also value our clients’ time. For this project, it was important to deliver quality drawings alongside a compelling and well-considered design concept — so we used AI to prepare the visualizations efficiently.
